About The Farm
Carolyn’s Pumpkin Patch: A Family Tradition Rooted in Agriculture, Education & Fall Fun
Established in 1991 by Carolyn and Buddy Raasch, Carolyn’s Pumpkin Patch—originally known as Carolyn’s Country Cousins—has grown into one of the Kansas City area’s oldest and most cherished autumn destinations. Located on an 80-acre working farm in Liberty, Missouri, the Patch began with approximately 60 acres of pumpkins, corn, and soybeans, with 20 acres dedicated to family-friendly entertainment.
The idea for the pumpkin patch was born from the Raasch family’s deep-rooted love of farming and their experience selling fresh vegetables at local farmers’ markets. In conversations with customers, they realized that many families had lost their connection to rural life. This inspired them to create a space where families could not only enjoy the fun of fall but also reconnect with the agricultural way of life.
In collaboration with Missouri’s Ag in the Classroom program, Carolyn developed educational materials to teach children about farming. Their commitment to agri-education earned national recognition in 2009, when Carolyn’s was awarded the North America Farmers’ Direct Marketing Association (NAFDMA) honors for Excellence in School Tours and Promotional Innovation. The farm’s teacher resource CD and multilingual educational color book—produced with the help of Hy-Vee Grocery Stores and Pepsi-Americas—have also received prestigious awards, including Gold and Bronze Pinnacle Awards from the International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA).
Beyond education, Carolyn’s Pumpkin Patch has grown from a one barn pumpkin patch to a Fall agritourism destination featuring a wide range of attractions for visitors of all ages. Guests can take a hayride to the pumpkin fields to find their perfect pumpkin, enjoy a spin on the antique Country Carousel, tour the Patch on Little Bud’s Railroad, test your skills at a variety of games in the Sports Barn, and meet new friends in the Petting Barn. Signature attractions include slides galore including the Mega Slide, and Carolyn’s Barnyard Mini Golf course. Weekend entertainment features Uncle Lester’s Pig Races, the Pumpkinator Cannon show, and the air will be filled with the sounds of live music.
Carolyn’s commitment to the community and promise to grow while keeping the charm of the original Pumpkin Patch has lead them to win several awards and recognitions over the years including:
• KC Parent Magazine’s Favorite Pumpkin Patch (2024)
• Pioneer Woman’s Top 25 Pumpkin Patches in the U.S (2023)
• Reader’s Digest Best Pumpkin Patch in Missouri (2018)
These honors underscore Carolyn’s commitment to providing memorable experiences and family traditions for visitors of all ages.
